About Me
I'm a private tutor, writer and publisher author specialising in English Language and Literature across various syllabi. You can contact me for exam prep, assignment help or online lessons. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language, and specialise in all things English and Literature. I grew up with a solid foundation of the National Curriculum, but was trained in an environment that is governed by the Cambridge Curriculum. That being said, I am particularly familiar with the IGCSE syllabus. TUTORING METHODS: I start by assessing the student’s level, and gradually gauging the areas they're weakest in before selecting the most suitable route of teaching. (e.g. Are they visual learners? Will they write better with or without technical knowledge? How conversational should our lessons be?) Generally, our lessons alternate between the main language components, namely Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening and Grammar. I detect their linguistic idiosyncrasies in order to determine which item is most beneficial for them in terms of personal command of the language, or test preparation. For example, a foreign student who speaks by constantly misusing articles and determiners (i.e. Teacher, I go to the Gurney Plaza on Saturday) will be trained in that particular area. Whereas my older, more advanced students would be trained to understand the nuance of language and the skill of synthesising information.
My Experience
I taught in an international school for four years before giving private tuition for two years. Other than primary and secondary school students, I also have experience teaching young learners from Early Years / Kindergarten and adults. I’ve trained employees in a manufacturing company, and conducted one-onone lessons online with school students and adult learners. As for unofficial work experience, I served as a volunteer tutor in a few children’s welfare homes, worked as a kindergarten teacher, and did my internship in another international school. In total, I have spent 11 years of my life teaching. Recently, I founded an online tutoring platform called ‘Elite English E-learning,’ which hosts a talent pool of tutors from Malaysia as well as outside of Malaysia, covering English of various syllabi, Literature as well as a few other subjects. My business has been registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia) under the name of ‘Elite English Enterprise.’
